How can we prevent mental illness in children and adolescents with trans identities? In this documentary, we follow three families from different parts of Sweden, whose children came out as trans in an early age. Two are in the beginning of their lives and the third died 2017 during the fall. What happens when authorities, health care, schools and parents don’t support them?

Together, their stories will be able to provide society with knowledge of this kind of mental health and thus be able to change the way children and adolescents are treated. The fact that such a high percentage * of all transgender tries to commit suicide is unacceptable. This has to change, and we hope that this documentary film project can contribute to that change.

* 50% of all young people between the ages of 15 and 19, who have a transidentity, try to commit suicide.
